Boasting year-round sun, plenty of historical and cultural offerings, and a splendid food scene, Seville will transport you into a world of striking Mudéjar architecture, a history that dates back to the Roman era, and plenty of wine and delicious food to please your taste buds.
If you’ve only got one day in Seville, chances are you’re looking to see as much of the city as possible. Even though a day is not too long, it is definitely enough to see most of the highlights and get a pretty good picture of what the city has to offer.

1 Day in Seville Itinerary
Plaza de España
As one of the biggest icons of Seville, you can’t really visit the city without spending at least one hour in this emblematic spot.
Plaza de España is made up of several different architectural styles and boasts plenty of small details worth taking your time to truly appreciate. The plaza is humongous, and you’ll get the chance to admire its bridges, walk around, and dedicate a bit of your time to appreciate its tiles – each one depicts a different province in Spain!
Stroll around Torre de Oro
Make your way to the riverfront to walk along the promenade towards Torre de Oro. The walk itself is a treat as you’ll get to cross several neighborhoods that line the Guadalquivir River.
Once you reach Torre de Oro, you’ll be transported back in time to when it was first built during the Middle Ages. The tower was once used as a prison and a military watchtower but today, it holds a naval museum.
Archivo General de Indias
Even though one day in Seville is definitely not enough to check out all the incredible museums it has to offer, Archivo General de Indias is a must for anyone visiting, especially if you’re keen to learn about world history.
This museum is housed inside a gorgeous UNESCO-listed building. Inside, you’ll find a plethora of documents that illustrate the history of the Spanish Empire around the world, especially in the discovery of the Americas and expeditions in Asia.
Stroll the Santa Cruz neighborhood
Best known as the Jewish Quarter, Santa Cruz is pretty much what you can describe as the heart and soul of Seville.
This neighborhood is extremely picturesque and a great place to get lost for a little bit. The houses here are painted white and yellow, creating a perfect spot to take pictures. Moreover, you’ll find plenty of restaurants and bars here, so it makes for a perfect spot to take a break for lunch on your Seville itinerary.
Chic&Ole, Bodega Santa Cruz, and El Librero are all wonderful places to head to for a bite, but you’ll find tons of more options along the Calle Mateos Gago. For super budget-friendly eats and drinks, you can also find a lot of tapas bars around the University of Seville.
The Cathedral
After lunch, it’s time to continue exploring Seville by checking out another of its most important buildings: The Cathedral.
Seville’s Cathedral is the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and, undoubtedly, one of the most beautiful as well. It was constructed to symbolize the Christian reconquest over the Moors, and up to date, it still remains one of the most important buildings in the city.
Tip: After exploring the Cathedral’s interior, make sure to also spend time at the Naranjos Patio, which is dotted by plenty of orange trees!
The Royal Alcazar
Opposite the Cathedral, you’ll find the Royal Alcazar, a glorious example of Mudéjar style architecture and a symbol of when the Moors ruled the city, but it also contains plenty of legacies from Christianity.
Today, the Royal Alcazar in Seville is the oldest palace in the world to still be used, and it’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Originally, it was used as a royal residency back in the 700s.
You’ll spend several hours here admiring the lavish rooms that make up the Alcazar, along with the incredible art it houses. Afterward, make sure you also spend some time wandering through the gardens and courtyards to truly take in the beauty of the site.
La Giralda
Last but not least, in the landmark section of your Seville itinerary, head over to the Giralda, a bell tower that stands 342 tall and is considered one of the most iconic landmarks of the entire Andalucia region.
These days, visitors can climb up the ramp to the top of La Giralda for gorgeous panoramic views of Seville – we recommend getting here for sunset!
Have dinner and enjoy a Flamenco Show
No trip to Seville would be complete without enjoying an authentic flamenco show, and luckily for you, there are plenty all over the city!
Flamenco shows can last anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, making them perfect for one last activity before or after dinner. Recommended shows to look into include the one hosted at the Museo del Baile Flamenco, the Casa de la Memoria show, and the Tablao Flamenco Show.
