Kenya is one of the top countries in the world for a safari experience. Every year I take each of my boys on a solo trip with just me. This year (2016) my youngest son and I chose to visit Kenya. It was an experience that left a lasting effect on both of us and was a great opportunity to bond.
This trip of a lifetime began when I was considering where I would take our youngest son. If you’re curious about this idea, solo travel with just one child, this post lays out my thoughts and ideas about the subject. It’s something we’re really loving and I think is a good idea for any parents that want to travel with their kids.

I think reading is one of the best ways to learn about a place before you go. I put together a few of my favorite books, and books I suggest reading before you go to help find your way!
Safari and Accommodations in Kenya
I highly recommend booking your safari experience with Angama Mara when you go to Kenya. This was a truly remarkable experience where everything we needed was taken care of and we had a legendary experience.
If you’re planning a visit to the coast of Kenya we stayed with The Sands at their Nomad and Chele Beach locations. Both are right on the water with lovely rooms. For a more secluded stay Kinondo Kwetu is also a good choice.
