I love soup and it’s only been recently that I have been able to convince everyone else in my house to love it as much as I do. That being said they have their favorites and tend to stick to them. Recently I had the opportunity to try out Bertolli’s Meal Soup for Two.
I knew that the best time to give it a shot was when I only had to feed myself! There are four flavors available; Chicken Minestrone, Roasted Chicken & Rotini Pasta, Tomato Florentine & Tortellini with Chicken, and Tuscan-Style Beef with Vegetables. I chose the Tomato Florentine and Tortellini with Chicken.

I’m a sucker for totellini. I was skeptical but as I opened the bag things began to look up. I really don’t like soup in a can at all (big chunks of onions abound and I can’t do that). But this actually smelled like soup and looked appetizing even in it’s frozen state. To prepare I just turned the stove on and added a little water. As it started to cook it was a little thicker than I like so I added in another 1/2 cup of milk to thin things out. I couldn’t think of anything that would taste better with a tomato based soup than grilled cheese grown up. We had just bought some gluten-free sorghum bread and I slathered camembert cheese between two slices and popped it in a pan to toast up.
A little bit of grated parmesan cheese topped off the soup. I was cuddled up with my LSAT study guide while eating this tasty dinner but not much studying really got done. I’m sure you have guessed but it was good – really good! I really expected to be turned off by the soup but I enjoyed it. I will say there were some pieces of chicken that weren’t great but better than other frozen or prepared products. This is a product I would keep on hand for really busy nights or lunches in a pinch. Nothing beats homemade but on those nights when you just can’t this soup is a good choice!
You can find Bertolli soups in your grocers freezer. Make sure to follow Bertolli on Facebook, Twitter and visit their website for more great products.
