Several years ago my sister said she was “going paleo.” I was baffled. What in the world did that even mean? She went on to explain (in simple terms I could understand) that you ate foods that would have been available to our hunter/gatherer ancestors. She showed me paleo cookbooks full of recipes I might actually eat. The paleo diet excludes butter, gluten, processed foods, etc etc. It’s often called the caveman diet for this reason.
Honestly, I thought it was totally hogwash.
But she won me over a little bit when she made some seriously good food. I’m certainly not following this diet 100% but I do notice living in Morocco there’s a natural means of eating this way. I don’t eat meat much and the paleo diet can be very meat-centric. I did discover once a vegetarian paleo cookbook so there’s always that option!
If you are eating a paleo diet or considering it, here are 20 paleo cookbooks to consider adding to your collection. If you don’t normally eat this way, try one of these suggestions just to mix up your current routine!
