The Maldives is a dream destination on the radar of many travelers – and for good reason. It’s an absolute paradise! This chain of islands in the Indian Ocean is one of a kind. It’s also often cited as one of the first nations that might disappear in recent times due to the rising sea levels.
The Maldives is the world’s lowest country, on average it’s only five feet above sea level – a fact that is easy to see once you visit. Many of the luxury resorts the country is most famous for occupy their own, small island. You need to use a boat or sea plane to get between them. With average temperatures between 27-29C (80-84F) there is no bad time to visit, though September is particularly wet.
While you might just want to sit back and relax while you’re on vacation, there’s also plenty of things to keep you busy! Check out some of our posts about one of our favorite places on Earth!

Get in the Water!
Even though I have a major fear of the things that lurk in the ocean, I knew I had to get in the crystal clear water. Snorkeling in shallow areas was exciting and fun for me. I even tried snorkeling with whale sharks. You can see how that went too!
The Maldives is one of those truly magical places that will take your breath away. Waking up every morning in this paradise was something we’ll never forget – at least not until we go back again!
