eat well, travel often, dream big!

guadeloupe islands

It wasn’t until 2013 that I had my first Caribbean experience, and it didn’t take long until I was kicking myself for not visiting sooner.  Sure the Mediterranean is charming, and the Pacific Ocean is vast and gorgeous but I still think there’s no place more beautiful than the Caribbean. Two weeks ago I shared the news that I was asked to be an Advisory Board Member of The Passport Party Project, and I couldn’t be more excited. What’s even better is that the girls will be making their first trip to the gorgeous islands of Guadeloupe!

Never heard of Guadeloupe?

The Guadeloupe Islands are located in the Lesser Antilles and are made up of 5 islands. These islands are a part of France- French is spoken here and the Euro is the currency in use. There’s no shortage of things to do or see such as; lush rain forests, dramatic volcano, spectacular cascading waterfalls, crystal clear turquoise waters adorned with gold, white, pink, and black powdery sand, charming villages, French-Caribbean influenced culture and exquisite cuisine. Did I mention there’s over 200 restaurants on the islands featuring French, Creole and Nouvelle Creole Cuisine? Yum!!!

These girls are in for an amazing experience!

The trip is slated to take place in June of 2015, when 10 teen girls will get their first passport stamps in Guadeloupe! They’ll be staying in a beautiful beach front villa provided by HomeAway. I’ve seriously got my fingers crossed and will be making every effort to also make it to the islands and share in this experience with the girls.

Take a peek at what Guadeloupe has to offer in this online video series. Regularly released episodes showcase locals and activities in the islands.  The second episode was just released and if you love food, shopping and fashion you will love to see what Guadaloupe has to offer! Les Saintes  is the island featured and is a favorite destination for sailing enthusiasts. There are two inhabited islands, Terre-de-Haut and Terre-de-Bas and seven islets. On Terre-de-Haut, you will find Les Saintes Bay, listed as one of the most beautiful bays in the world, famous for its picturesque, colorful streets, the multicolored boats dotting its shoreline and the very delicious Tourments d’Amour, a tartlet that’s soft on the outside and crunchy on the inside with coconut, banana or guava filling. Terre-de-Bas is best known for its pottery culture, the charming Petite-Anse village and the magnificent Grande-Anse beach. What are you waiting for? Take a look;

    Every time I see a pic of Guadeloupe, I’m convinced that I should return again. I hadn’t anticipated that before involvement with this project. It was just a stop on a cruise and I hadn’t really caught the travel bug back then (high school) so I couldn’t appreciate the stark language difference that made it so foreign to me. Now I’d welcome that!

    I’d love to be basking in the sun on that yacht right about now! Guadeloupe looks so inviting, and the French-Caribbean food in the video looks amazing!

    It’s great to have you on board all of the way from Morocco, Amanda! (Technology is awesome.) Can’t wait to get to Guadeloupe! :)
