This month I participated in the Foodie Penpals program hosted by Lindsay of The Lean Green Bean. What is Foodie Penpals? Bloggers and readers are paired up and send each other a box of goodies! Here is some more information from Lindsay’s site;
-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
I can’t remember whose blog I first saw this on but it looked so fun. I really like the idea of subscription boxes and the idea of doing something fun and creative with actual people (vs a company) was even more appealing.
So my box went to Amber in Texas and inside there was some tea, Moroccan cookies, a candy bar with mango pieces mixed in (bad call on this one I’m pretty sure it melted I’m sorry!), and some other goodies. My box came from Kayce who is from Alabama (I believe). It was so fun getting a big box in the mail!!
There were all kinds of goodies inside! I think I was most excited to see fresh peaches (there’s only one in the picture because I’d already processed two of them for a new recipe). You can see some peach butter, vidalia onion and peach salsa, peanut brittle and chocolate covered peanut brittle, and a big vidalia onion. It really made me smile!
I’m participating again next month and think this is a really fun activity to participate in. You can still sign up by visiting Lindsay’s site and signing up! Who knows maybe you’ll be my foodie penpal next month!
