On a whim Wednesday evening we decided we should go on vacation this weekend. Trust me it’s no where fantastic/exotic/or really that thrilling but it’s a getaway. I have Monday off of work so that makes it worth it – plus we have free digs so that really is an added bonus. Of course I didn’t pack or get anything together before Friday at 5pm so it was a bit of a whirlwind. I raced home from work Friday evening (after hitting up Old Navy’s 50% off clearance sale!) and threw together a suitcase while DH packed a picnic dinner and on the road we were. So 4 1/2 hours later we were in Upper Michigan pulling up the driveway of my grandparents house.
It’s been a low key weekend. The weather is warm and unlike many trips that involve visiting hundreds of relatives this one has just been happening how we want. The kids are playing outside, driving their four-wheelers, and I’m doing work (not too much but getting some done!)
Today I’m packing up lunch and we’re headed out to check out some waterfalls, and then swimming and fishing. I’m sure the kids will love it! DH is loving this vacation because he’s getting to do some things he never has – like fishing his current “must do” item.
